Wanda's Story
Conflict and Contrast
At barely 20 years old I married into a ready-made
family with five children. Within the first two years
of our troubled marriage, due to circumstances beyond
their control, my husband's five children suddenly
and unexpectedly came to live with their father and
me. I was exactly 13 years younger than my husband
and 13 years older than his oldest son. By this time
I had given birth to a baby girl and was pregnant
with our second child. |

Needless to say it took more than both of
our minimal salaries to make ends meet for this family
of nine and, for several years, ends did not meet. It didn't
take long for me to realize that I had naively boxed myself
into a situation where my future looked pretty bleak. I
was in my early 20's, with seven children, a difficult
marriage, only a high school diploma and broke. Let's call
this "contrast".
Abraham - Hicks describes contrast as that
place you find yourself that is not of your liking or wanting.
The value of contrast is, first, the clarity you derive
as to what it is you don't want to experience which then
points you in the direction of what it is you do want.
Abraham refers to it as "the gift of preference," in other
words, what is it you prefer to have in your experience.
Discovering What is Not Working
I had come to the place where I knew what
I didn't want: emotional stress and strain, feelings of
insecurity, of being trapped, of hopelessness, a sense
of limitation and never having enough money to take care
my family.
Even though I wasn't absolutely clear on
what or how I could improve my life, there was something
within me struggling to find answers. There was a still
small voice I now refer to as "She Who Whispers," that
whispered thoughts that made me know that somehow, somewhere
I would find those answers. Sometimes in life, just holding
on to a conviction that there has got to be a way out,
and then finding a way to align yourself with a higher
power to give you a sense of peace and poise, is enough
to help you hang in there until you know what to do next.
When the Student is Ready the
Teacher Appears
There is old adage that says when the student
is ready the teacher appears. I was definitely ready when
someone invited me to attend a lecture on the power of
the mind. It was there that I bumped into a wise older
friend I had known for years. This woman was a very spiritual
person, was then retired from a very successful business
and was writing and mentoring others. I pulled her aside
and I asked if she could meet with me the following week.
She became my first important teacher.
The following Monday, I met her at her high-rise
apartment. I told her about my situation; that our home
had been burglarized seven times and that my marriage was
in trouble. Although I loved all of the children, I felt
completely overwhelmed. Our family was about to lose our
little home and the car. I told her that I was worried
all the time and frequently felt like I wanted to take
my two children and run, but just could not leave the other
children. I said, "everything is going in the wrong direction.
I'm not even 25 years old yet and I'm miserable!" With
tears streaming from my eyes, I asked for help.
If you think you're a victim,
you become one
My friend looked directly in both of my eyes
and said, "Wanda, my dear, you are not going to like to
hear what I'm about to tell you, but what is happening
on the outside is a direct reflection of what you're thinking
and feeling on the inside."
She said, "Wanda if you think you're a victim,
you become one. If you feel life is unfair to you, it only
gets worse." Then she said something that I will never
forgot. She said, "If you want your life to get better
you have to see yourself beyond your circumstances. What
has brought you to this point cannot take you to where
you want to go. Your thoughts, believe it or not, have
creative power. What you think about and talk about influences
how you feel. Your feelings influence what actions you'll
take and what seems to show up in your life. Your actions
impact your reality and your reality then becomes your
life. Making a positive change in your life will begin
with managing feeling thoughts."
We talked for hours and I was given four
simple but life altering principles and processes to practice.
These processes are the foundation of Energy Management.
After several weeks of learning how to connect with my
Higher Self and then manage my emotional energy, I began
to feel a new sense of control over outer circumstances.
There were small changes at first, but as I practiced,
it seemed like my luck was beginning to change.
Persistence and Determination
I was determined to find a way to create
a better life for myself and my family, and this process
not only made logical sense to me, but I was also taking
action to do all within my power to make positive changes.
I was already feeling better even if nothing got better.
But things did get better. I watched myself
begin to break free of the self-imposed box I had created
for myself. I began to feel a sense of undeniable empowerment.
Little did I know at the time that I had stumbled on to
something that would change my life forever.
One day soon after I had begun the practice
of Energy Management, something very extraordinary happened.
I received a call from a man who had worked with my husband
previously in the security industry. I hadn't spoken to
him in years and, just out of the blue, he called and told
me that he now worked for a large corporation and was in
charge of awarding contracts to small businesses. He said
if my husband and I could get a private patrol license
and do the other necessary paper work, he thought he could
be influential in getting us a very lucrative private patrol
contract.
Well, we did all the necessary paper work,
got the license, submitted the proposal along with other
companies, borrowed a desk and old typewriter and set up
an office right in the living room. As I waited for the
phone call that I hoped would award us our first contract,
I thought of the lessons I had learned about the importance
of deliberately and consciously focusing on what you want
and where you want to be, rather than where you are. I
had no doubt that after all we'd been through, this opportunity
had come to us because I had been resolute in deciding
to manage my energy in the face of whatever was before
me, then taking action on the inspired ideas which came
up.
Down but not Out
After a few weeks passed, we finally received
a call that our bid had been rejected. Even though I was
disappointed, I wasn't devastated because an unexpected
transformation had taken place in me. I had come to believe
that I could get my own contracts. I began soliciting for
business the next day.
It was at this time that I really began to
put into practice the principles I had been studying about
the inherent connection we each have to a Higher Power.
The awareness and use of this connection empowered me in
a way I had never known before. It allowed me to do things
that I would have never had the confidence or courage to
do at any time previously in my life.
I was able to create a spiritual atmosphere
within my mind and understand deeply that there was a power
within me that transcended all of my perceived inadequacies.
I had come to know that my Higher Power had all the answers,
resources and solutions I needed and that all I had to
do was allow myself to be sourced by this Higher Power
by listening and then doing what I was lead to do. As I
trusted this process more and more, step by step it began
to work.
So with a total of $500 (tax refund check),
my living room as an office, a typewriter, telephone and
a borrowed desk, I started a business. I procured security
contracts all over the city, some with prestigious financial
institutions, retail stores, manufacturers and myriad of
other businesses.
New Opportunities
New opportunities began to present themselves
that had never been there before. I was on a roll! I employed
over 125 people with in my first year in business and,
over the next ten years, provided employment for more than
3000 men and women.
The concept of energy management and faith
in a Higher Power is not a new one and has been practiced
by many, often associated with various religious systems.
I believe that regardless of one's religious affiliation
or how they define a Higher Power, the process is the same
and can work for anyone at anytime. I learned this very
well as I faced the challenges of running a small business
while raising a family, and especially after the sudden
death of my husband, who, in 1975, died in his sleep from
a stroke.
Real Estate Success and Energy
Management
Years later, in 1984, when I made a career
change into the real estate industry, my continuing practice
of the principles of Energy Management empowered me to
achieve distinction as the 4th highest producer in the
United States for Century 21, the No. 1 real estate franchise
in the nation at the time. I was also ranked as one of
Century 21's top national achievers for eight consecutive
years and was inducted in their Hall of Fame.
I appeared in several national real estate
publications and in the early 90's was selected to participate
in Century 21's national TV ad campaign. I also participated
in the creation of an audiotape presentation to inspire
and motivate other real estate agents. During this time,
I began to share my experiences and knowledge as a motivational
speaker and trainer.
My consistent showing as a top real estate
producer caught the eye of the producers for a national
real estate training cable show, The Real Estate Television
Network. I appeared first as a guest with them and then
was invited back as the host for my own show.
My Darkest Night
My life was wonderful. I had met and married
my second husband, my soul mate, Bill Peyton, in 1982 when
we were in our early 30's. We shared 24 years of a bliss-filled
marriage. He was truly "the man of my dreams," as well
as business partner and best friend. We not only lived
together, but worked together everyday of our lives.
Then, in May 2002, tragedy hit once again.
My husband while driving up a mountain road was hit by
a speeding motorist. I had no idea how bad it was as I
rush through the streets to the emergency section of Loma
Linda Hospital. All I knew was that he was on his way to
surgery, I can remember thinking, thank God he is alive!
For the next three weeks, the children and I were by his
bedside praying unceasingly for his recovery. Though his
ears and heart responded to my voice and touch of my hands
on his, he never gained full consciousness again and on
May 24, 2002 he crossed over.
These were truly my darkest days and nights.
Nothing I had read, heard or experienced prepared me for
such deep sorrow and grief. At the same time I was aware
that prolonged feelings of dark emotions were harmful to
me physically as well as emotionally but felt lost. I also
knew that even though I had every right to feel these feelings,
the laws of the universe are impersonal and were responding
to the low feeling energy I was exuding in a way that would
not enable me to move forward. I knew this was more than
I could handle alone. I needed help.
Over time, as I struggled to find a way and
a reason to continue on, once again I began to hear the
still small voice of "She Who Whispers" saying, "There
is more for you to do, there is meaning, purpose and joy
waiting here for you. Come follow me I will lead you there." At
this point, I realized that I truly wanted to come out
of the darkness to the light. I wanted to do more than
just survive and get through each day - I wanted to live!
I wanted to LIVE!
I made a conscious decision that I would
do whatever it took to find a way to live in joy once again.
It was then that I was attracted to Sharon
Wilson, founder of Coaching From Spirit, in a very synchronistic
way. Sharon is not only a master coach, but is also a coach
trainer. She felt my pain and my desire to be free of the
darkness. Step by step, through coaching and modeling the
process of energy management, Sharon guided me until I
was back in the light that I had been away from for so
many months.
I was struck by the power inherent in this
Energy Management Process of dealing with life on life's
terms. It not only has the potential to transcend any negative
experience life may throw at us but also has the power
to lead us to the discovery of renewed joy and purpose.
Working with Sharon, I completed both the
advanced and master coach program. I discovered that Energy
Management is far more important that time management,
and that passionately pursuing one's purpose has unimaginable
life-giving power.
Renewed and Sustained Joy
We are more powerful than we realize. There
is an inner flicker that continues to burn and has a constant
re-igniting system. When the winds of life seem to blow
it out, it relights itself over and over again. The process
of connecting daily with your inner guidance can bring
any negative emotion first into clarity, then into alignment
with your desire, then into manifestation.
I believe this power is our inherent gift,
although it sometimes lies dormant within us. At any time
we awaken to its availability and decide to learn how to
execute its inexhaustible potential, our lives are instantly
catapulted into the area of our hearts desires and we are
forever changed!
I am today filled with renewed and sustained
joy and excitement for life on a level that I never thought
was possible again. I lovingly embrace all who are attracted to
this work and invite you to join me on this journey of
unfolding.
My Mission Statement
My mission is to serve as facilitator, motivator & spirit coach to a
community of seekers desiring to activate and integrate
their inner Power and unlimited outer potential.
I believe this Power is our inherent gift from God.
At any time we awaken to It's availability
and execute It's inexhaustible potential,
our lives are instantly catapulted into
the arena of our hearts desires and
we are forever changed!
My Mission is to
serve as a conduit
for Spirit.
